After showing off the gorgeously printed wedding invitations, I was really looking forward to sharing the details of the huge interior illustration that takes pride of place inside the flaps of the invite.

For those interested, the whole illustration took about six months, and at least 336 hours, much of which went into the trees, which I cloned from a smaller patch of hand-drawn trees, and then stitched together to create a seamless pattern. Each of the individual features are also hand illustrated using references (some are less rushed than others, which I think shows).

The illustration is far larger than required, as we’ll be getting a larger version printed to have framed. And it’ll even be on display at the reception.

My fiancé’s favourite character from Adventure Time is the Lumpy Space Princess, and given that my fiancé’s name is Melissa (also the name of LSP’s best friend, for those who don’t know), this provided the perfect opportunity to spruce up the gift wrapping a little.

Purple wrapping paper, yellow card for the stars, white paper for the eyes, and permanent black marker for anything in black (outline of the stars, the eye colour and the arms/lumps).

I am extremely happy with how it turned out, and it got the desired response when she unwrapped it this morning, so I lumpin’ win, you guys.
